Studio Main Menu
The main menu contains 7 different drop-down menus: File, Edit, View, Validation, Debug, Window, and Help. The following sections explain the capabilities that each menu offers. Many of the menu items are common commands that you can perform in most modern programs, such as saving a file (File > Save) or undoing a change (Edit > Undo). Other menu items may not be common knowledge, and are described in more detail below.
File
This menu provides the most common commands for a generic "file menu" in modern programs: New, Open, Save, and Exit, plus 3 additional options: Recent, Import, and Export.
Recent
This menu item provides a list of scripts that you recently opened on the
Import/Export
These menu items allow you to pull an external script file into Studio and your CXone system (Import), or save a script as a new file to a location outside of the media server, such as your desktop (Export). Studio creates and reads scripts in the file format of XML. To import or export a script, select either option through the File menu, browse for either the script you want to import or the location to which you want to export the script file, and click Open or Save, respectively.
Logout & Exit
Select this option to log out of Studio and close the application. Studio remembers you even if you close the application. If you need to log out completely, use this option.
Edit
This menu provides the most common commands for a generic "edit menu" in modern programs, such as Undo, Cut, Copy, and Paste. These commands can be performed on Studio actions that are placed on the canvas. In addition to using these menu items, you can also use the common hotkey shortcuts for the same commands — Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C, and Ctrl+V, respectively.
The following explains the other options in the Edit menu:
Copy Script As Image
Copies the script to your clipboard as an image that you can paste elsewhere, such as an email or text document. After pasting the image, you can save the image as any common image file type.
Find
Opens the Find in Script window, which enables you to search for specific text in the script you have displayed or in all scripts you have open.
Go To
Enables you to search for and navigate immediately to an Action ID, as identified in the ID field of the Actions tab.
Compare
Enables you to compare two scripts by captions, parameters, branches, or position. For example, a pair of scripts may contain the exact same actions and branches, but might contain different parameters. By comparing the 2 scripts, you can view the differences (and similarities) in the Find Results tab. To compare 2 scripts:
- Open both scripts that you want to compare. Be sure to save any changes that you recently made.
- Click Edit > Compare to open the Compare Scripts window.
- Select 1 script in the Left field, and the other script in the Right field. Pay attention to which script you select, as these drop-down menus provide options for any script that you have currently have open.
- Configure the General Options and Compare Settings sections. These sections allows you to determine which elements of the scripts that you want to compare. Note that the Position element refers to the X and Y axis for each action on the canvas.
- Click Compare. The results will appear in the Find Results tab. If you do not have the Find Results tab open, click View > Find Results from the menu.
View
From this menu, you can select any of the listed tabs to open.
Additionally, you can view your login information and security profile information assigned to your user account by selecting Help > Agent Info and Help > Login Info. Your selected information will display in the Properties tab.
Lastly, you can choose whether or not to display the Trace option in the toolbar. See the Testing and Debugging section for more information on tracing a script.
Validation
Windows
Select to open any of the following tabs: Script Errors, Actions, Variables, and Dependencies.
Syntax Check
Checks an active script for connection and property errors, and displays warnings in the Script Errors tab. This is a basic method of testing and debugging your script; see the Testing and Debugging section for more information.
Debug
Capture Script
Provides the option to either continuously capture a script each time it runs or only capture the next instance that it runs. Capturing a script traces and documents the progress of a script as it runs, and displays the resulting information of each action firing in the Trace Output tool. This option is also available in the toolbar beside the Trace Script drop-down option. See the Trace Scripts page for more information.
Start with Trace
Launches the active script and opens the Trace Output window to display the results of the script running. This same function can be launched from the toolbar using the Start with Trace button. See the Trace Scripts page for more information.
Load Debug Trace File
Allows you to browse for a trace file and open it in the Trace Output window.
Load Remote Trace File
Allows you to browse for a trace file on the CXone media server and open it in the Trace Output window.
Set Global Trace Location
If you selected to capture a script continuously or with a specific ANI or DNIS, this menu item allows you to determine the location on the media server that trace files will be saved after a trace completes.
Window
Provides a way of navigating between open scripts in Studio. When you have multiple scripts open simultaneously, the scripts appear as multiple tabs in the canvas, therefore, selecting a script from this menu brings the selected script to the front as the "active" tab.
