If you enable shift trading, that means your employees can trade same-day shifts with each other, as long as they are in the same scheduling unit.
If your employees want to trade shifts, you'll be able to see their request in the Requests section.
To enable shift trading:

Click the app selector
and select WFM. -
Go to Setup > Shift Trading.

Enable Agent trading.
Your employees will now be able to trade same-day shifts with each other.
